The art of having vision

Hey there friends, it's that time of year again - Spring has sprung and everyone is setting their sights on big goals. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm all for goal setting, but I have a little secret for you all: it's not where my design process begins. Nope, I always start with a vision. I believe that being too focused on goals can actually hinder the design process and prevent us from finding a truly brilliant solution.

At Jeffrey Bruce Baker Designs, we're all about keeping our eyes on the prize - or rather, the vision. Let me tell you about a little case study we did on a piece of land in Atlanta that was deemed "unbuildable". This property had a premier Buckhead address on Peachtree Battle Avenue, but no one wanted to touch it with a ten-foot pole. Every prospective buyer was told that they would never get a permit to build on it and so they backed out. But not us, we saw a challenge and we bought that land.

We began to sketch and envision what this land could become and our team got down to planning. We knew that we couldn't just plop any old home design on this site, it had to be catered to and showcase the unique land it was on. We live by the mantra that planning, innovation, and creativity will always triumph and boy did it ever in this case.

Introducing 1064 Peachtree Battle, a one-of-a-kind modern home that we designed and successfully permitted on that "unbuildable" land in Buckhead. The design concept is a bridge, with a master suite on one end and garages acting as piers on the other. The upper level spans the length of the bridge and contains guest suites and a theatre. But the real magic happens below the bridge, where glass-enclosed main living areas - including the kitchen, living, and dining room - seamlessly integrate indoor and outdoor living spaces. It's like having your own private sanctuary, no matter where you are in the house.

And let's talk about those outdoor spaces, shall we? There's an amenity deck with a dining area, a 50-foot pool, a 19-foot waterfall, sunken sitting area, and a cabana bath - all overlooking the 1.4 acres of a natural ravine. It's the perfect spot to unwind after a long day and take in the beauty of nature. We even placed operable glass walls on either side of the main living areas so that you can easily access the exterior amenity deck and front yard at Peachtree Battle Avenue.

So, the next time you're faced with a challenge that seems impossible, remember the story of 1064 Peachtree Battle and keep your eye on the vision. Who knows, you might just surprise yourself and make the impossible possible.
